There are several ways to pave an area depending on the area and the client’s requirements. In this case, crazy paving was utilised which consists of random slate pieces that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. This type of paving is unique, creative and easy to clean, making it an ideal choice for garden paths and other outdoor areas.
Request: The client asked D C Garden Restoration to design a natural paved area near the tennis court.
Challenges: The extreme slope of the land posed a challenge in the paving process.
Solution: D C Garden Restoration overcame the issues posed by the slope of the land, by paving long sloping platforms which flowed down to a large area for a table and chairs. The team also utilised rocks to retain the newly built garden beds creating a pleasant spot to watch the game. The finished result is an attractive path and area around the tennis court.
There are many paving choices available, so in choosing a particular style it is important to give consideration to: the shape of the area, its purpose, and the desired effect for the client.
Request: The client initially wanted a square paved area but once consulting with the team at D C Garden Restoration she was interested in more creative possibilities.
Challenges: Considering the boundaries of the property and the look desired by the client, the team designed a curved paving concept, which would be more difficult to implement but would achieve a more creative look.
Solution: The curved paved area looks great and the client is very happy with the result.
Professional landscaping can dramatically improve the appearance of the backyard or front yard of a home.
Landscaping can be customised to suit any client’s individual requirements and tastes.
Request: The client had just bought this property and the garden was a real mess. With a preference for clean and modern lines, the client worked with the team at D C Garden Restoration on the perfect design.
Challenges: The property was in disarray, so it required a lot of preparation work. Another issue posed was the wasted space in the corner of the property and how best to make use of this awkward area.
Solution: D C Garden Restoration first covered an ugly fence with unique fencing, and suggested a custom built shed made from decking boards to make better use of the wasted space. The front and back areas were created to complement each other, by utilising similar concepts in their designs. Modern clean lines were achieved using stone- cladded walls with a bull-nose capping, a beautiful feature pot and an exposed aggregate concrete driveway. The backyard boasted a two tier spilling water feature for the harmonious sound of trickling water. The end result was a beautiful garden closely aligned to the clientÂs vision.
D C Garden Restoration designs and installs magnificent water features including: fountains, ponds, cascading walls, statues, pots, flowing rivers and river beds. This water feature is an entire water wall utilising 100% recycled water which creates a courtyard with a difference.
Request The customer was looking to create a functional and usable space with a tranquil and harmonious feeling.
Challenges D C Garden Restoration needed to create the perfect balance between the elements in the courtyard, while incorporating a water feature, ensuring the desired effect was achieved.
Solution A harmonious courtyard was created, with the unique feeling of being surrounded by cascading water, creating a tranquil area for enjoying a BBQ meal.
Pool areas require landscaping for improved safety and appearance. The pool area is often the centre of entertainment in the backyard, which means it must be a usable and relaxing space.
Request: The client wanted a solution in creating a usable space from an area with very uneven ground. The aim was to have an attractive backyard, which was ideal for entertaining guests.
Challenges: This was an interesting job from day 1. The original levels of the property were extreme making it essential to find a solution in levelling them out. Towards the end of the project, the client also required another solution: a hidden storage unit for a large pool cover.
Solution: D C Garden Restoration ensured that each paved area complemented the other so all retaining walls were made to the same height as the top paved area. This involved removing soil in some areas and adding height to others. The final result was a usable and attractive looking space. A day bed was also custom built towards the end of the project, to store the cover for the pool ensuring it is hidden away when entertaining guests.
This was a very small courtyard that was dark and needed a lift. We designed a raised deck area at one end to create new height and definition to the lounge area. We planted the garden with variegated drought tolerant plants to create interest with no maintenance as they require little water and do not drop leaves. Next we mulched, with decretive stones to define the garden beds and lighten the area.
After long consultation towards the end of this job, we were able to convince our customer of the possibility of steel wall features with garden lighting. They allowed us the freedom to design this beautiful feature and commission it. The result was a very happy customer.
This was a very interesting job because the customer wanted to totally transform the front of their property, making it much more cleaner looking, whilst creating more space to park their cars. I could tell from the first meeting that they we a couple who liked linier lines and minimalistic design.
We totally removed most of the front yard and started again, building retaining walls that are slate veneered with Sandstone Bull nose capping. We then complimented that with an exposed aggregate drive with similar colouring.
We removed the old fence and build a new sleek fence with a remote control gate for easy access to the property.
In keeping with the minimalistic requirements, the planting was designed to use plants from the same or similar families all white flowering (as was the request) and it created a beautiful yet functional front to this property.
